Title: Child Parent Psychotherapy Learning Collaborative

Date(s): November 13- 15th, 2024 (all three days are required)

Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm CST

Description:

This training is an 18 month Learning Collaborative, divided into three intensive Learning Sessions.

CPP is an intervention model for children aged 0 through 5 who have experienced traumatic events and/or are experiencing mental health, attachment, and/or behavioral problems. A central goal is to support and strengthen the caregiver-child relationship as a vehicle for restoring and protecting the child’s mental health. Treatment also focuses on contextual factors that may affect the caregiver-child relationship (e.g. cultural norms and socioeconomic and immigration-related stressors). For children exposed to trauma, caregiver and child are guided over the course of treatment to create a joint narrative of the traumatic event and to identify and address trauma triggers that lead to dysregulated affect and behavior.

Therapeutic sessions include the child and parent or primary caregiver. If clinically indicated, treatment may include multiple caregivers and/or siblings with the format of sessions determined jointly with the caregivers after learning about the needs of different family members during the Foundational Phase of treatment.

*Due to the limited number of seats for this training, no refunds will be issued after purchase.

Presenters: This collaborative is being held in conjunction with AIMHiTN & TFFTI: Building Strong Brains funded grant project through Allied Behavioral Health Solutions

Title: Celebrate Babies through Parenting: Bringing Celebration into Every Aspect of the Day

Date: Tuesday, October 15th, 2024

Time: 12 - 1pm CST/ 1 - 2pm EST

Description: One of the core treasures that babies bring to our world is the gift and unending surprise of parenting. Heather Stargel comes to share her story, highlighting her experience through the adoption of her son, Drew, at seven weeks old, their family's journey of learning and adapting to the life changing diagnoses of Prune Belly Syndrome, and the passion she has for celebrating every aspect of Drew, beyond the title of medical needs. Heather's heart radiates this passion through her volunteered time as a Parent Mentor with the Family Advisory Council at Erlanger Hospital, work in her local children's church ministry and community, and within her own home, where homeschooling, inpatient and outpatient procedures, and the Tennessee Vols are abundant. Heather and her husband, Ryan, take every day in stride, as the NICU, PICU, and medical operations of Drew can often be viewed as overwhelming. For every moment of regulated deep breathing, there have been a dozen more moments of thankfulness. Come join us as we refocus our heart and minds on the why of what we as professionals do everyday.
