Title: Principles in Practice: Exploring How Ethics Shows Up in the Everyday

Date: Jan 24th, 2025

Time: 9:30am CST/ 10:30am EST

Description: This interactive training explores how personal ethics, values, and biases show up in our daily work, regardless of the setting or level of practice. As professionals, we strive for self-awareness, contemplating how to maintain personal beliefs, while also defining boundaries and making hard decisions that can impact the lives of others. This reflective time will target discussion around the intersection of professional ethical responsibilities and the Social Ecological Model (SEM). Mental health professionals will examine how individual, interpersonal, institutional, community, and policy levels shape their practice. Through self-reflection and collaborative discussions, participants will identify blind spots, challenge biases, and develop actionable strategies to provide equitable, client-centered care.

Objectives:
1. Understand the Social Ecological Model (SEM) and its application to ethical decision making in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health care.
2. Recognize personal ethics and implicit biases and their potential impact on client
relationships and outcomes.
3. Analyze ethical dilemmas and biases through the lens of the SEM framework to identify strategies for resolution.
4. Develop an actionable plan to challenge biases and align personal and professional ethics with equitable care.
5. Apply the SEM to real-world scenarios to improve ethical decision-making at every level of practice.
