Title: Fostering the Magic of Connection: Spreading Elf Cheer to All Who Are Near

Date: December 3rd, 2024

Time: 10am - 11am CST/ 11am- 12pm EST

Description: The winter season, often resonating as a time of joy and celebration, can also unwrap hidden loss and unexpected emotions in the hearts of some. In a whirlwind of traditions and holiday cheer, foster children and families may experience the holiday through a different lens. This session will highlight how Infant and Early Mental Health professionals can hold foster children, parents, and families in mind, with compassion and connection, while also reflecting on how to navigate these sometimes-tumultuous situations. Attendees can expect to glean a deeper understanding of the emotional impact the holidays may have on foster children, considerations on how a foster child's family of origin and traditions could be woven into celebrations, and friendly tips to keep in mind as the holiday season approaches. The session will highlight Kid's Place: A Child Advocacy Center, as they spread Elf joy and Stockings for Survivors to foster families across Tennessee. Learn how we can all come together through awareness and holiday cheer, putting on our own Elf hats and bringing smiles to those we serve!
