Celebrate Babies through Touch: It Is a Touchy Subject! The Tactile System

Date: October 11th, 2024

Time: 10-12pm CST/ 11-1pm EST

Description: There is no mental health without tactile processing. One of the primary ways infants learn about their world is through touch.  As such some researchers have referred to the skin as being a “social organ”.  The tactile system is in constant communication with the other sensory systems sending signals to the brain fostering growth and development.  Participants in this session will learn about the tactile system including optimal tactile processing as well as when there are differences in tactile processing. And of course, strategies to make tactile processing a bit easier for those who struggle will be provided. Please join me as we explore ways to celebrate babies through touch!
