I am Riann Proctor and I am the Reflective Practice Coordinator at AIMHiTN. I spent many years in a hospital setting, working with moms, babies and families in a NICU setting. In August 2024, I joined the team at AIMHiTN and have loved learning to support families and professionals in a different way.
I started my career as a Certified Child Life Specialist in Las Vegas, Nevada. I mainly worked in the emergency department and the Clark County CAC Sexual Abuse Clinic. During that time, I earned my Master’s in Social Work from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I spent 8 years in the NICU at Sunrise Children’s Hospital and then took a job in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX. I started my clinical social work hours there. I also participated in a special program at a local elementary school, providing access to play therapy for children and families that could not afford to participate in any other way.
I started my journey in East Tennessee at Youth Villages and Helen Ross McNabb, but eventually made my way back to the NICU setting at UT Medical Center and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. I completed my LCSW during this time and started providing therapy to pregnant and postpartum moms. I am also a faculty field liaison in the College of Social Work at UT Knoxville campus.
When I am not finding ways to learn and grow professionally, I enjoy traveling, quilting and spending time with my son.
