Hi I’m Emily Irizarry! I am so excited to be joining the AIMHiTN team as the Program Assistant of Consultation and Practice. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve communities across Tennessee. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services with a concentration in Child Development from East Tennessee State University. I’m passionate about creating equal opportunities for success in early childhood, especially for children who have persevered through traumatic experiences. This led me to working as an early childhood educator for some time before entering the world of nonprofits dedicated to child-welfare. After seeing how children are able to learn and grow in healthy, loving environments, my attention was drawn to those that were still able to grow in more challenging circumstances. I developed a love for working with children impacted by the foster care system, and have spent the last year with Isaiah 117 House, an organization that works to reduce trauma for children entering into foster care. Through my time with this organization, it became clear to me that there was a great need for supporting professionals with resources and training. As a result, I developed a desire to create change for children on a greater level, by supporting the professionals who directly support them.
When I’m not working, I’ll likely be spending time with my partner and our three spoiled cats. There’s a good chance you’ll find me going for a long walk, reading, knitting, or binge-watching true crime documentaries or rom-coms!
