Dr. Conway’s work focuses on factors that promote the well-being of children, with special attention to children’s ability to regulate their emotions, attention, cognition, and sleep and relations with children’s health, mental health, and educational outcomes. She also studies early brain development. With respect to infant mental health, she is particularly interested in early child development and problems of children with depressed parents (e.g., prenatal depression). She is also interested in adverse childhood experiences, social determinants of health (e.g., food insecurity), and health outcomes (e.g., nutrition and sleep).
Dr. Conway is a reviewer on the editorial boards of Child Development and Health and Social Work and has presented her research at conferences such as the World Association for Infant Mental Health. Her research has been published in international journals such as Child Development and the Infant Mental Health Journal (IMHJ) - the flagship peer-reviewed journal for the World Association for Infant Mental Health. In response to the global pandemic, one of her papers was selected by editors of the IMHJ as part of “IMHJ Response to Covid-19” and made available free of charge “to provide parents, caregivers, and practitioners strategies to promote child and family well-being during this difficult time”.
She is excited to join colleagues at the Association of Infant Mental Health in Tennessee and work to improve the wellbeing of young children across our state.
