Ciera Schoonover

Ciera Schoonover is an assistant professor in the Clinical Psychology department at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Prior to starting at MTSU, she completed an internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Center of Excellence for Children in State Custody at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She earned a PhD from Central Michigan University and Masters degrees in Public Health and Social Work from the University of Georgia. Her research and clinical interests are in behavioral parent training techniques, specifically Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, increasing access to evidence-based caregiver-child interventions for underserved populations, and providing services for children who have experienced trauma. Consistent with her clinical and research interests, she has published co-edited books on telemental healthcare for children and families and mental health issues in child maltreatment.
