Description:

Every family has their own story that makes them unique and special. This session will highlight ways to engage families in using their uniqueness to create learning opportunities for their child in everyday routines and activities. The process of using coaching strategies to support parents while adhering to adult learning principles will be presented from a research to practice framework.

Biography:

Amy Jenkins, M.Ed, is the Director of Learning and Development at AIMHiTN. She received her Bachelor of Social Work and her Master of Education from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. Amy has over 28 years of experience working with children and their families, with the past 20 years being in the field of early intervention through direct services, program development, and state-level leadership. She has a passion for ensuring that all children have the resources to reach their full potential.

Prior to joining AIMHiTN, Amy worked as an Early Childhood Specialist for Tennessee Early Intervention System, supporting and training early intervention programs for Part C, IDEA across Tennessee. Amy contracts with Part C programs in other states to provide consultation or training on conducting and implementing the Routines-Based Interview as an evidence-based family assessment and consulting on best practices for in-home service delivery programming. Amy currently serves on the Family Advisory Council for her local Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and volunteers as a Parent Mentor.
