Title: Co-Regulation in the Classroom, Big Tools for Big Emotions

Date: Saturday, August 17th, 2024

Time: 10:00am- 11:00am CST/ 11:00am - 12:00pm EST

Description:

Self-regulation is a learned skill that does not come naturally to children. It is up to caregivers to teach little children healthy tools that help manage their big emotions. This training will discuss how to provide a warm, responsive relationship, structure the environment, and teach self-regulation skills. Attendees will learn co-regulation tools they can use in those moments of big feelings to help calm themselves, thus creating calm spaces for the littles they are with. Children all learn and grow differently, so the more tools in our toolbox, the more resources, and techniques we have to utilize successfully.

*This training will be classified as a Health & Safety Training for ECE Workers, in accordance with TN DHS Licensure Rules for Child Care Agencies.

Josie Davis, BA, MA, IECMH-E®

Hello there! I'm Josie Davis, originally a Floridian but have happily called Cookeville, Tennessee my home for the past fifteen years. My academic journey started at Tennessee Technological University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services, concentrating on Child Development and Family Studies in 2015. Since then, for about ten years, I've honed my skills in the human services field.

Starting in February 2023, I've brought my expertise to AIMHiTN, focusing on infant development, high-risk behavioral management, family systems structure development, young adult skill building, and working with the special needs community. With a passion for service and a dedication to the wellbeing of children and families, I'm excited to contribute to AIMHiTN's mission and impact.

My love for knowledge led me back to academics in 2018, this time culminating in a master’s degree in Human Services: Business and Administration. This experience ignited my passion for non-profit organizations and their mission. As a Clinical Mental Health Supervisor over the last five years, my love for team building, professional growth, and program development has only strengthened.

Away from work, I find joy in the great outdoors, often spotted hiking with my two young children, husband, and fur-baby. Navigating the joys of toddler motherhood with my two boys keeps me on my toes, whether that means stepping on stray Legos or getting lost in the world of Super Mario Nintendo. I thrive on seeking out new experiences and positive growth opportunities each day, both on a personal and professional front.

Kristin Williams, BS, IECMH-E®

My name is Kristin Williams, and I joined AIMHiTN’s team in March of 2021. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education at Tennessee Technological University in 2020. Serving others has always been a passion of mine, which ultimately led me to work with children in a childcare center after graduation. Watching the children in my care grow and develop through developmentally appropriate play and interactions filled me with joy. Today, I take pleasure in making connections and building relationships in my role at AIMHiTN.

My goal is to ensure that all little ones in Tennessee are cared for and supported by professionals who are informed about infant and early childhood mental health!

Currently, I call Cookeville, TN home. In my free time, I enjoy reading, being outdoors, and spending time with my friends and family.
