Sheronda S. Smith

Sheronda is the proud wife of Harold C. Smith and the mother of Hali and Morgan. Sheronda earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has her M.B.A.

Sheronda has served at Porter-Leath for twenty-five years. Where she has been allowed the opportunity to show her devotion to empowering children and family.  Sheronda started at Porter-Leath as a Recruiter Trainer in January 1999. She has worked in various departments of the agency with her longest tenure in the Head Start program. She is currently the Program Director for Early Head Start.

As Sheronda shows her commitment in her work, she also shows it in her community involvement.  Sheronda has been a part of families’ upward mobility since she was a young child when she participated with the Civil Rights movement through NAACP and AFSCME.  Some of her past affiliations are Stand for Children, Tennessee Commission on Children & Youth (TCCY), where she served as Secretary and Treasurer and Tennessee Association for Child Care (TACC).  Sheronda was also affiliated with Tennessee Conference on Social Welfare (TCSW), where she was the past West Region Program Chair and President and West Region Treasurer. Sheronda is a member of the Leadership Memphis Class of 2014 and Central High School PTSA, She is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Sheronda has held various leadership roles including: Chair of  Jabberwock, Jr. Miss, Delta GEMS, Co-Chair of Reclamation and Sister Act and member of Nominating Committee. She is the current Board President of Delta Fine Arts Cultural Enrichment Center. Sheronda is also a dedicated member of Greater New Salem Missionary Baptist Church where she is the Youth Director and Chair of the Pastor’s Aid Committee.
