CHIEF INNOVATION OFFICER

Hi, I am Sarah Long and I joined the AIMHiTN family as the CIO in September 2023. I am proud to have spent my career serving children and families in Tennessee. I am a native Tennessean, and from a young age, I knew I wanted to work with children in my home state and was blessed to find my calling in social work. I graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 2006 with a BA in Human Development.

I then went on to achieve my Master's of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I practiced as a clinical therapist for a number of years, helping me to understand the needs that so many Tennessee families face when it comes to their health and well-being. I then moved into clinical management of programming in a community mental health setting. Working for Helen Ross McNabb Center, I became the Assistant Director of Family Treatment Services, and over time gained experience in three critical needs for children in Tennessee.

I learned to develop family-focused programming in settings that historically had either been adult or child-focused so that entire families could get care in a single, two-generation-focused setting. I also became an expert in trauma-informed care, ensuring that children and their families accessed trauma-sensitive services.

Finally, I gained valuable knowledge and experience in infant mental health care, becoming endorsed as a Clinical Mentor in both Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health by the Association of Infant Mental Health in Tennessee (AIMHiTN). I also served on the Board of Directors for CASA of East Tennessee and the Advisory Council for AIMHiTN. As the Chief Innovation Officer for AIMHiTN. My role is to support the quality of the organization's work, the effectiveness of operations, and engagement with Tennessee's communities.
